A legend about Planaltina tells that one of the first inhabitants of the city was a blacksmith and gunsmith by trade who was called “master of arms”, so this was the first name of the place. His house served as a landing for travelers who passed through here and many of them stayed and built their homes here.

Planaltina has been the oldest city in the Federal District. Legend has it that one of the first inhabitants of the city was a blacksmith and gunsmith by trade who was called “master of arms”, so this was the first name of the place. His house served as a landing for travelers who passed through here and many of them stayed and built their homes here.
Planaltina has kept many religious traditions, such as Via Sacra, Folia of Divine Spirit Holy, rituals of Sunrise Valley, Evangelistic Crusades and many others. Its various religious groups have lived together harmoniously.
